Why can't Windows open my iPhone photos?
iPhones save photos as HEIC by default, and Windows needs a paid codec to open them. Converting to JPG makes your photos open everywhere — email, Office, photo frames, older apps.
Is the photo quality preserved?
At the default 90% quality the converted JPG is visually indistinguishable from the original for typical photos. You can raise the slider to 100% for maximum fidelity.
Why is the first conversion slower?
The HEIC decoder is a WebAssembly module that downloads the first time you convert on this page. After that, conversions run at full speed — and the decoding itself always happens on your device.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Both the HEIC decoding and the JPG encoding run locally in your browser. Your photos never leave your device.
